OUR SHOW
Three Way was born of the desire to have in depth conversations that can be anchored by a book. Each long form episode features our host, Erin Keating, plus one guest host that will be different every episode. They will have both read the book for discussion and will settle in for a talk that can last anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, buckle up! Then, and here’s where the name Three Way comes in, they will three-way dial in the author. This isn’t a death march through the book, nor is it a “what’s your writing process” kind of interview. This is real talk from two people reading the same book that can quite possibly come away with very different perspectives and that will go down the rabbit holes necessary to get to the why…why did we see it differently? What influenced the way we read the book? What did it do for us emotionally, mentally, intellectually? And then, let’s ask the author all the questions that come up as a result of the discussion. These long form episodes will drop every three weeks on Thursday. So read with me, I promise it’s fun…it’ll make you finally open a book, open your mind and ultimately open your heart to a whole new world.
A new bonus episode will also drop every week on Tuesday that will feature Erin’s currently reading list, as well as a list of books she’s added to her queue and a short review of a book she loves. We call these *71 episodes…yep *71 was the shortcut phone code back in the day for three way calling…I went there, have a laugh!
OUR HOST
Hi, I’m Erin Keating and I’m the host and executive producer of Three Way. My whole life I've wanted to write, talk, share, over share and so on down the line. I'm a communicator and much like my father, everything interests me. I'm a 45-year old wife and mother of two beautiful children. I have had a wild career that has covered a lot of ground from doing events in Hollywood in my early 20s, to owning my own events company in DC in my early 30s, to an executive position in the car business at Audi of America in my late 30s, and most recently dabbling in venture philanthropy and soil health! I’ve struggled like everyone else trying to figure it all out.
I’m also an avid book reader and constant seeker of deep and meaningful, sometimes provocative conversations. I looked for book clubs high and low and hadn’t settled into one where I really felt we were taking advantage of all the tangents and directions we could go in, plus one book a month just wasn’t cutting it for me. So I decided to start something more in tune with where my book life takes me.
What makes me qualified to do this? Well nothing really, other than I’m human, I’ve been handed some challenging things, and in today’s world of divisiveness, I have a deep desire to work with people through conversation to figure out how I really think about stuff. I want to process it all and I don’t want to do that myopically.
Since you don’t know me personally, let me make it personal for you because I believe everyone is formed through their experiences…here are a few of mine. For starters, I’m a twin, I have a fraternal twin brother and by being just one minute older makes me the oldest and only girl. I have two younger brothers as well, plus two step siblings. In June of 2010, I lost my father to suicide just four short weeks before I gave birth to my second child. In November of 2011, I lost my mom to a six-year battle with breast cancer that had metastasized to her spine and liver. My youngest brother was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2010 and will be released in 2020, I’m his guardian. For the past eight years I have been the primary earner in the family while my husband was the primary parent for our children who are now 11 and 8. None of this makes me extraordinary but it’s my shit so there you have it. Now go on, feel free to make your assumptions about how I see the world…and then come on my show to help me see things differently!
As I rang in the New Year in 2018, I made the promise to myself that I would finally do what I always thought I should...write, talk, share, over share and so on down the line. Well I’m only 16 months late but I did it!
We are all humans, we all have experiences in common, we are all just trying to figure it out. Hope this can help you on your journey. By all means, contribute to the conversation!
